Dr. D’Souza-Li is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medical Science, UNICAMP, where she coordinates the Adolescent unit since 2005. She graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Paraná in 1989, completed her Pediatric Residency at Pequeno Príncipe Children’s Hospital in Curitiba (1991-1992) and specialized in Pediatric Endocrinology at University of São Paulo, USP (1993). Recently, Dr. D’Souza Li worked as a visiting scientist at the Center for Adolescent Substance Abuse Research at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. From 1994 to 1996, she was a Research Fellow first at the Medical College of Saint Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London, and later at the Pediatric Endocrinology Laboratory, Montreal Children’s Hospital, McGill University, Canada. In 2000, she obtained her PhD from the Department of Experimental Medicine at McGill University. When she returned to Brazil she set up a Pediatric Endocrinology Laboratory where she does research on Bone Mineral and Neuroscience.  Her goal is to gain more experience in clinical research focusing on adolescent substance use and prevention. She has two boys, age 14 and 10 years old and in her spare time she likes reading and practicing yoga.
